Building on the lessons from legacy, leveraging historical and institutional significance of its brand, and marching towards being a leading
multimedia news organization

The INQUIRER.net turns 28 on Oct. 26, 2025 just having gone past the point of no return. A little over 100 days ago, the website's operations were integrated with that of the Philippine Daily Inquirer - the mighty broadsheet where the website sprung from. In one fell swoop, online and print were a messy mishmash of people, parts, processes that - at first glance - neither matched nor made sense; and yet, together, we crossed that river of uncertainty, braving audience distrust, news avoidance, and existential questions besetting journalism.
The ambition is to create an integrated multimedia company at the top of its class.
Everyone is aware of the birthing pains. Everyone just tried to keep their eyes on the ball. On some days, one would just be grateful that the gods of journalism seem to be giving a nod to the efforts, blessing the Inquirer with reasons to smile and celebrate victories:

Integration is also taking shape most vividly in our editorial operations. Our integrated desk and reportorial pool have online reporters providing content to print, and vice versa. Photos from our print photographers are routinely used by online editors for breaking stories, significantly boosting our online visual presence.

Under this integrated setup, we have successfully mounted multimedia news coverage of important events such as the 2025 State of the Nation Address, and the Sept. 21, 2025 anti-corruption protests, allowing the Inquirer to mobilize all units. This meant harnessing an abundance of stories, posts, reports for a nuanced storytelling that delivers the big picture for broadsheet readers. But when news is happening now, what integrated news coverage means is giving the audience blow-by-blow accounts of events from reporters on ground who are filing stories for the website, posting updates on social media, and reporting live on video platforms.

INQUIRER.net's march to where it is today did not happen in the past 100 days. On our 28th anniversary, we honor the many battles that led us here. Integration and many innovations like it are not simply about coming out at the top of the game. More than anything, it is about remembering, making sure we make it today to tell the story the next day for our audiences.
We will live to tell the tale. But more than that, The Inquirer intends to soar to its digital heights.

INQUIRER.net built its success by upholding the institutional mission of empowering Filipinos with news and information, drawing on the credible journalism of the Philippine Daily Inquirer. As a local pioneer in online mainstream journalism,
INQUIRER.net is lauded for its resilience, flexibility, and speed in adapting to evolving consumer trends. It has expanded its reach and influence by pivoting regional titles like Cebu Daily News (CDN Digital) and Bandera, and by integrating niche titles into its stable of specialized publications.

Message for the 28th Anniversary of INQUIRER.net
Sandy Prieto-Romualdez
Chairman of the Board, Inquirer Interactive, Inc.
This smart decision by the Board twenty eight years ago and the move to integrate print and online last July 1 is the Inquirer.net that we are celebrating today - an integrated multimedia company at the top of its class as the leading Filipino news website based on Similarweb ranking. Adding the Philippine Daily Inquirer’s highest trust rating based on the Reuters Digital News Report and its stature as a newspaper of record, these achievements highlight the Inquirer’s brand of credible, fearless, independent and excellent journalism at its core from its founding days to the transformative step that it has taken forward.
We have evolved from being the online version of print to a full-fledged multimedia news and information powerhouse capable of covering the news live as it happens and producing compelling content and features in video and multimedia formats reaching audience when and where it matters. We continue to speak truth to power, give voice to the voiceless, inform, educate, provoke and inspire people to action.
I stand with all of you as a proud member of “One Inquirer.” We are a solid family who share an enduring vision and mission of empowering Filipinos for a better Philippines, a commitment that I know and have proven time and time again we take very seriously every single day.
We thank our readers, advertisers, dealers, partners, stakeholders and everyone who supported, believed, trusted, cheered and journeyed with us – they are our true loyalists.
With the support of our stakeholders and with everyone of you on board, we will continue to boldy face and adopt to the challenges of a constantly evolving media landscape steadfast in our calling to speak truth to power, fight disinformation, defend people’s freedom, advocate causes for the greater good and be a catalyst for social progress.
As we celebrate our 28th year anniversary, I would like to welcome our colleagues from the Philippine Daily Inquirer who are now part of the Inquirer.net family and thank everyone for the smooth transition. The integration could not have come at an opportune time given the challenging and constantly evolving media landscape. We are now in a strong position to protect our leadership, evolve, innovate and better serve our readers, advertisers, dealers, partners and stakeholders because of the synergies and efficiencies that we can unlock by having both print and digital in one company.

I am deeply proud of our achievements, most particularly our continued leadership in Similarweb online ranking and print’s high trust rating based on the Reuters Digital News Report. It is not easy to defend this position but we are a formidable force, I have full confidence in our ability to protect our leadership and thrive. With print’s depth, opinion, analysis and incisive reporting combined with digital’s reach, breaking news, multimedia platforms and new technology, we can now take our readers and viewers at the center of events as they unfold and passionately tell the Filipino story guided by our unwavering mission to empower Filipinos and spur meaningful change for the betterment of our country and people. More importantly, Inquirer is agile and ready to evolve with the changing times. It is built to last and here to stay.
Cheers to 28 years and even greater heights as One Inquirer!

This year’s celebration is a meaningful one because we are celebrating our anniversary in an integrated set-up. We are now one company. We came from print, PDI is our roots, and now PDI is with us. So I think we are in a very very good space to be able to unlock more values to serve, to better serve our reader’s, our advertisers, our stakeholders basically and to continue with our mission of being a catalyst for social change and progress.
We have just concluded 100 days of integration. But beyond the 100 days, we now have even more exciting, challenging tasks of actually building on that foundation and really growing together.
So while we do this, we have to continue to be patient. We have to continue to support each other, be each other's buddy or tandem. We have to also continue to learn from each other because there's so much to learn. Each one has their respective strengths, and there's so much information that can be exchanged. And if we learn to actually work together, we will be able to unlock more, more things, more new things. I have a favorite quote that synergy is actually bigger than the sum of the individual parts. So that's what we hope to achieve, to really create synergies as we continue to work together every day.
